Hi Everyone!

I’m SUUUPER excited to share my recent hair adventures with you! In my previous post I talked about making an appointment with celebrity hair colorist Johnny Ramirez and celebrity hair stylist Anh Co Tran for a new hair color and cut. I’m happy to say that it was an AMAZING experience and I absolutely love my new hair! I’ve been getting tons of compliments!

I actually went back to the salon a week later right before Barristers Ball (aka Law School Prom) to get my hair styled by Anh and to take pictures with them to show you guys! Johnny Ramirez is the fantastic colorist on the left in the picture, and Anh Co Tran is the amazing hair stylist on the right.

The entire process took about 10 hours … (yeah I know) … but in the end it was completely worth it.

It began with a hair consultation with Johnny and Anh. They looked at my reference pictures (seen in my previous post) and asked me about how I wanted my hair to look. I was unsure about bangs and the length of my hair, but Anh was quick to dispel my insecurities and told me that my current length was great. He told me that all my hair needed was some movement. After that he deftly snipped the ends of my hair and cut some layers into the hair closest to my face. Prior to this, I had never had my hair cut while it was still dry so it was a new experience for me.

After the haircut with Anh, Johnny proceeded with his proprietary coloring process. Johnny is meticulous with his bleaching techniques and customizes the color to your specific length and style of hair. Below is a picture of what my head looked like after the first round of bleaching. Johnny uses his own technique to create a natural ombre style that is light on the tips and slowly fades to a darker color halfway up the hair. He teases small sections of hair so that only a portion of the hair gets bleached, this way it looks a lot more natural once the bleached hair and non-bleached hair is intermingled.

After bleaching the bottom portions of the hair, his assistants went back and “bled” the bleach up each tuft of hair to eliminate the lines of delineation between bleached hair and non-bleached hair. After that Johnny went back and bleached portions of hair around my face to create highlights (picture shown below). Following that step, the foil wrapped strands of hair are also bled to create a more natural ombre effect.

FINAL RESULT! This is how my hair looked that night after I returned to my apartment (picture below). I look so tired haha.

I tried french braiding my hair and the highlights around my face created such an awesome effect!

The next three pictures are taken the day after. I showered so my hair went back to being dead straight. It looks SUPER blonde in pictures because only the hair around the face is visible, but in reality most of my head is a light brown color lol.

The following three pictures were taken today. I attempted to curl my hair like Anh did … but alas I am not as skilled as he is. I think my curling iron may be too big? I think I’ll have to look into investing in a smaller barreled curling iron.

Johnny and Anh did such an amazing job that I don’t think I’ll be able to DIY it anymore …

ALSO, they have a serious celebrity following … I literally sat next to Margot Robbie, who was reading a movie script the entire time Johnny was doing her hair.

If you want more information about how to book an appointment with Johnny and Anh, you can either go to boxno216 and email Johnny for color, or go to misteranhcotran and email Anh for a new haircut and style. They are also opening a new salon in Beverly Hills sometime this summer! Super looking forward to it!

In all seriousness though, Anh and Johnny are very passionate and dedicated to their craft and it really shows through their amazing work. I’m really glad I decided to go to them for my hair needs, and I will most definitely go back to them next time. Their fees are reasonable for the amazing results that they produce, although it’s definitely not for everyone. I’m sure once you see the before and after pictures on their blogs you will want to book an appointment with them too!

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Deb. Ur hair looks amazing! Could u explain more detailed what he did? I’m from norway. And I really want to have a hair like that, but the hairdressers here just cant get it perfect. Did he first bleech ur roots, and then took water where he bleached and took bleaching in ur lengths? Did he bleach it once more? I really need these detailed so I can go to my hairdresser and try to explain :) When did he put the shades (color for the ombre effect) in? I hope u answer me. Thx in advance :D

      Hey Hilde!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your kind words!

In terms of the procedure this is what Johnny did: (1) teased sections of the hair all over the head and placed bleach on the hairs remaining after teasing. (2) After the color was sufficiently lifted from the hair, one of Johnny’s assistants went through each tuft of bleached hair and placed bleach on the intersection between the non-bleached hair above and the bleached hair below in order to blend the colors. (3) After that, they washed my hair and took out portions of my hair around the face and bleached it from root to tip in order to create face framing highlights. (4) The bleach was washed out for a second time. (5) Then they applied a toner to my hair with a squeeze bottle and let it activate for a few minutes before rinsing it out to create the neutral blond color as seen in my pictures. (6) Last, one of Johnny’s assistants put a gloss treatment in my hair for 10 minutes and rinsed it out.

      I hope this helps!

      Hi Ana!

Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting! Unfortunately, I tried to ask about the gloss but they wouldn’t tell me which brand they use :( If there’s anything else I can help you with please don’t hesitate to ask!

I hope you have a great week :)
