I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited when I saw the polishes in the Essie Spring 2012 “Navigate Her” collection!!!! It has an awesome range of colors to choose from!! The name is a little bit unusual but WHO CARES when the shades are so pretty?????
The colors clockwise from top left:
Navigate Her (green), To Buy or Not To Buy (purple), Tour de Finance (fuschia),
Ole Caliente (red), Orange, It’s Obvious! (orange), A Crewed Interest (peach)
“Red orange with pink undertone” according to Essie, I think it’s pretty accurate, although the pink undertone is hard to discern. Very great pigmentation, not streaky or thin at all. The color is amazing! One coat was enough for it to be nice and uniform, but I did two coats on the swatch just in case.
Orange, It’s Obvious!
Essie says it’s a “bright orange,” it’s not that bright to me, but it is a very flattering shade of orange. It looks a lot lighter in the bottle, but it dries to a redder orange than what you would think true orange would look like. At least when I think of orange I think of a Florida Navel or something. Once again it’s very pigmented and it has great coverage with just one coat.
A Crewed Interest
“A luminous peach” says Essie…not that luminous to me since it’s a cream based color but it is my favorite color in the whole collection! It’s much lighter in the bottle, but it dries to this great pale peach color! Really really amazing spring color!!! Especially since pastels are so popular this year in fashion!! Can you tell I’m really excited about this polish?!?! One negative about it is that it’s harder to apply evenly compared to the first two colors, but with three even coats it’s perfection. I just put this on my nails along with two of the Essie Luxeffects polishes…I’ll do a tutorial of my current nail look with this color soon!!
“A light, bright green” – it’s more of a pastel minty green to me! This color is perfect for spring as well! My second favorite shade in this entire collection! It’s easier to apply than A Crewed Interest (peach), and two coats got me to this great swatch seen below. Very wearable in terms of greens because of the light pastel tone, really perfect for this coming spring season!!
To Buy or Not To Buy
“Lavender with shimmer” according to Essie – definitely a creamy lavender, with some really pretty purple and blue shimmer mixed in. The shimmer is much more noticeable in the bottle than on the nail as seen below, you can’t really see the shimmer at all unless you really stare at it. My third favorite of the collection! I’m not normally a fan of the purples but this one is an exception. I think the shimmer in it is great and makes the polish look a little bit more unique.
Tour de Finance
“Fuschia with shimmer” – fuschia is hard to spell…but this is most definitely fuschia. The picture below makes it look hot pink, but believe you me it’s about as fuschia as you can get. Also it’s more iridescent than shimmery, the very teeny tiny iridescent pieces in the polish have a purple glow about them. Great pigmentation and it applies very nice and evenly. Wouldn’t consider this much of a spring color per se but it’s a great fuschia if you’re a fuschia kinda person.
I love me some Essie!! Although some people think Essie polishes don’t have great staying power, I think they stay on just fine as long as you use a good base coat and top coat, and also always remember to seal in the free edge of your nail with both the color and the top coat so it doesn’t chip as quickly!!
I think Essie did a good job for the 2012 spring season!! Now I’m definitely looking forward to what they’ll come up with for the summer!!!
If you get a chance definitely check out the three pastel colors for spring, they’re super trendy right now!!
